In journalism I was born and in journalism I will die,
that’s what motivates a young upcoming journalist from Tshwane university of
technology (TUT).
Oratile Gracious Kekana born and raised in Makiting
Zebediela Limpopo. 21-year-old radio
presenter, Tik Tok influencer, voice over artist. Studying towards her second
year in Diploma in Journalism at TUT.

Growing in rural can deprive one opportunities in life but
on Oratile Kekana’s side it was different. “I realised at an early age that I’m
a huge fan of radio, I remember when other kids were watching cartoons I would
choose to listen to radio, at the age of ten I was doing grade 5 in 2011,
that’s when I realised my capabilities and talent,” said Oratile Kekana with
excitement in her voice.
In 2020 Kekana started to build her career by working with
local radio stations, she was a radio presenter at Naka online Radio station
From May until August 2020. She
then moved to Zebediela FM from September until March 2021 as a radio presenter.

In September 2021 she worked with the universities radio
station Tut Fm. She has built a name for herself from stretch in the
broadcasting world and hard work pays off in the end.
Kekana does many things on her free time, she is also a
voice over artist and advertises people’s businesses at a reasonable price.
One of her customers Lerato Makgetha said,” Kekana’s voice
is magical when I first heard her voice on Tik Tok I thought she was a
presenter somewhere I was very impressed and that’s when I approached her to do
a voice over for my business and she agreed politely.”
When asked what she hopes to achieve she said, “In the next
5 years I see myself working for one of the biggest media houses as a journalist,
sharpening my journalist skills, grow my social media account and lastly to
grow my voice over business.”

Tik Tok is now a powerful social media platform that is
helping people to grow individually. Oratile started using this app early this
year and her account is growing rapidly because of the content she is creating.
She trended on twitter after she posted her famous “Leska kwata
guys “video. One of her fans from KwaZulu Natal said,” Kekana is the whole mood
I love watching her videos everyday she just makes my heart melt she is one of
the best.”

It’s takes someone who is strong to reach the top. Making a
name out of yourself is very difficult in this 21st century.
