The one bread can feed a community organisation offers to assist where the is a need to children and community members who are suffering financially.

The one bread can feed a community was founded in 2019 by Mr. Nqoba Thabede who is an educator by profession. This organisation is based in a small town in Kwazulu-Natal, Pongola they don’t have branches outside Pongola, but Mr. Thabede has bigger plans for the organisation to expand.

The organisation does many things in the community including a feeding scheme whereby they visit certain household with groceries and some other good things to make sure that they don’t go to bed hungry.

Mrs. Thandekile Nkosi who was helped by the organisation said, “For days we would go to bed hungry, me and my children until one of our neighbours told Mr Thabede he was touched and om that day my family was well sorted, and we never went to bed hungry again.”

The organisations’ main purpose is to reach every family in need and assist children with school uniform. The organisation provides shelter, clothes, food, blankets and quality education.

When asked what they hope to achieve with this organisation, Mr Thabede said, “As an organisation what we want to achieve is simple and straightforward, is to help those who are unable to help themselves to give them clothes, food, shelter and quality education. By the end of this year the goal is to help a lot of children around our community and I’m so proud of the changes we’re bringing in the community.”

In February 2022, the organisation managed to donate 12 pairs of shoes in Tholulwazi Primary school, Itshelejuba Primary and Ncotshane Primary school. 12 children managed to get new shoes at the beginning of the year.

This organisation thanked community members to give back to the community by donating money and other things.

Ms Londeka Nyawo one of the donators said,” I am very happy to see smiling faces from those little faces that’s why I decided to give something to help those children because I also had a tough upbringing, I know the situation of being laughed at because of how I dress.”

The one bread can feed a community is there to bring change and give back to the community by doing good deeds.

The organisation has shown what the word Ubuntu means. They portrayed kindness. Life is full of opportunities that need courage to grab them, and give back to those in need is something that needs to be appreciated every day.
